Your Example Itinerary
Fly from the UK to Sicily.
Fly from the UK to Palermo and meet the rest of your group. Spend the morning on a tour of the capital Palermo. Take in Norman Palace and the Palatine Chapel, before continuing to Monreale to take a look at the cathedral, and then Selinunte, where you’ll enjoy your first welcome dinner together on your idyllic farm stay.
Get your taste buds ready as this morning you’ll be tasting some of the farm’s best produce, from delicious olives and olive oil to freshly baked breads. Later, stop at the historic port of Sciacca, a fishing port boasting natural thermal springs that were popular with the ancient Greeks. Explore the town before continuing to Favara, where you’ll spend the night.
The first stop of the day is the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Valley of Temples, filled with fascinating Greek architecture, which you’ll explore with a local guide. In the afternoon, stop at Villa Romana del Casale, which is stuffed full of Roman mosaics, before continuing to Ragusa. The next day, sample some local chocolate and cheese before exploring Ragusa itself. Perhaps explore the town at your own pace, or seek out a local trattoria and taste some Sicilian specialities.
After a visit to an almond farm for lunch, explore Syracuse, a seaside city and one of the most important of ancient Greece. Wander among the temples and sacred caves of the archaeological park with your expert guide, before getting lost in the winding streets and shopping at the bustling markets. Enjoy the sea views and the splendid baroque architecture, and take a look around the Old Town on Ortygia Island.
4* Hotel Katane Palace
Spend the morning discovering the tallest volcano in Europe, Mount Etna, where you can spot solidified rivers of lava, and of course admire some pretty views, before continuing to Carruba. The next day, explore Taormina, a charming hillside town, with some rather tempting gelato shops. Enjoy a guided tour of the city’s sights, including the 13th Century Cathedral of San Nicola and the spectacular Greek Theatre, and perhaps take a wander down to the beach.
4* Hotel Katane Palace
Continue to Catania for a final walking tour and a visit for a local market, before catching your flight back to the UK.
Depart Catania and return to the UK
