An area blessed with epic panoramic views and cascading waterfalls, the Grampians are naturally spectacular and, therefore, an ideal place to get those boots dusty and explore some of Australia’s most spectacular outdoor scenery.
There are a multitude of hikes on offer for those who want to explore this region more intimately. From multi-day itineries along the Grampians Peak Trail – a rugged and unforgettable trip past some of the very best viewpoints – to the flat Balconies Walk or Venus Baths Loop Walk – both of which are flat and under 1.2 miles in length.
It’s not all sweat and hard work in the Grampians, the region is home to some of the world’s oldest vines. The scenic vineyards and estates, framed by sandstone peaks, make for a perfect well-earned rest stop after a day's trek. Regional specialities are Shiraz, Riesling and Chardonnay.
Indigenous Rock Art
The Grampians has a number of sites where you can see ancient rock art drawn by early Aborigines. The area is actually home to over 80% of Victoria’s rock art sites, four of which – Billiminia, Gulgurn Manja, Manja and Bunjil’s – are open to the public.
