Your Example Itinerary
Fly from the UK to Fairbanks.
Today you’ll visit the 2,000-acre Creamer’s Field Refuge on day two to learn all there is to know about the migratory waterfowls that reside here, before embarking on an Alaskan paddlesteamer boat ride to a replica Athabascan Indian Village. If you have time to spare, perhaps visit the Fairbanks Ice Museum to admire myriad frozen sculptures or, between September and March, look skywards in search of the Northern Lights after dark.
3* Rivers Edge Resort
Denali National Park
Renowned for its incredible wildlife and scenery, Denali National Park is undoubtedly one of the most mesmerising spots in the USA. With the lofty Mount Denali – the highest peak in North America at 6,194 metres – as the unmissable focal point, you’ll learn all about the region’s subarctic flora and fauna from a local specialist. The next day, you’ll get to experience it first hand as you explore under your own steam. You can choose to hike, book a helicopter tour or opt to take a morning rafting trip. Whatever you decide, be sure to make the most of this northerly wonderland.
3* Denali Park Village
From your deluxe dome railcar onboard the Alaskan Railroad train, you’ll get to soak up the magical landscapes of Alaska. Make sure your camera is fully charged and at the ready as you pass Hurricane Gulch Bridge and Indian Railroad. After arrival in Anchorage, take in a local sports fishing hatchery, visit the Alaska Native Heritage Center – where you can learn about nearby indigenous villages – and indulge in a delicious farewell dinner. Finish your time here with a visit to a wildlife rehabilitation centre.
3* Hilton Anchorage
Kenai Fjords National Park
Depart Anchorage and you’re water-bound: a cruise into the heart of the Kenai Fjords National Park is on the cards. Here you can hope to spot sea otters, puffins, eagles and orcas, as well as admiring the mammoth ice sheets that dominate the surroundings. Sufficiently impressed, swap one boat for another, and set sail on a seven-night scenic cruise.
Cruise around Alaska and down to Vancouver, Canada, on this epic sightseeing cruise. Spend your days admiring the glaciers in Prince William Sound (home to humpback whales); being dwarfed by the icy peaks of Glacier Bay National Park; visiting the quaint, cultural towns of Haines, Juneau and Ketchikan; and gliding through the iconic Inside Passage, where you’ll be awestruck by the glacier-carved fjords and waterways.
Depart Vancouver for the UK.
