Frequently asked questions

Moab is the gateway to the adventures of your dreams. If you’re short on time, you could do Moab in as little as three days – a day for Arches National Park, a day for Canyonlands and a day for leisure, but what’s the rush? This is one please you definitely don’t want to breeze through.

If you’re planning to hit the National Parks and canyons, at a bare minimum you’ll need sun protective clothing, a hat, hiking gear, a rain jacket and light layers as the desert temperatures can fluctuate pretty dramatically in one day. If you’re planning on a spot of river rafting or kayaking, a pair of water shoes that aren’t thongs or flip-flops are advisable. Oh, and water, lots and lots of water.

It depends how long you have! If time is of the essence, dedicate some time to exploring Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park. Thrill-seekers, add rafting on the Colorado River to the itinerary, and if you’re more of an observer, take the scenic route on State Route 128. Moab is known to get busy during peak season, so planning ahead is your ticket to seamless adventures.

Moab is known as the gateway to Utah’s awe-inspiring National Parks. The town is surrounded by scenic rivers, forests and thousands of miles of ruggedly beautiful desert.

As a general guide, summer in Moab is sweltering and winter barely rises above freezing, so the best times to visit are spring and fall. The peak travel season is from March to May and September to October.

When you aren’t out hiking, you can spend your time in Moab horse riding, biking, rock climbing, sipping at a winery and walking a dinosaur trail, to name a few!
