If it’s pretty you seek, you’ve come to the right place. Louisiana is not short on breathtaking natural scenery. If you’re looking to roll out a rug and enjoy a picnic, look no further than the Mississippi River or Avery Island, which is not only the birthplace of Tabasco sauce, it’s filled with lush forests, swamps and marshes. If it’s striking architecture and rich culinary culture you desire, New Orleans delivers in spades. The French Quarter in particular is a must-see for visitors.

Louisiana is known for its unpredictable weather, so best to be prepared with a lightweight rain jacket and light, casual layers. If you’re heading to New Orleans, be sure to pack your dancing shoes!

Absolutely! Louisiana is known for its southern hospitality, making it one of the friendliest places on Earth. There’s also plenty to see and do with little humans in tow.

Summer in Louisiana can be summed up in two words – hot and wet. The rest of the year, however, is fairly mild and pleasant. The most popular (but also the most expensive) time to visit is for Mardi Gras, so if you’re travelling in February, be prepared for busy.

While a swamp may not seem overly appealing on the surface, Louisiana’s marshland and bayous are home to some of the world’s most complex ecosystems and boast a variety of creatures, from gators to herons and more than 100 species of fish. Swamp not your thing? No worries, you can experience authentic Creole culture, eat your bodyweight in Po’ boys, get delightfully lost in the world of jazz, catch a football game, visit the birthplace of Tabasco sauce, check out the St. Louis Cathedral, wander the mysterious Chauvin Sculpture Garden and marvel at the colonial-era French Quarter architecture.
