Most visitors start their Pakistan holiday in Islamabad. This bustling capital city is a good introduction to Pakistan and is well connected to the rest of the country for on-travel. While in Islamabad, make sure you check out the Shah Faisal Masjid, the main mosque of Pakistan built in a contemporary style. Contrast this with the Mughal style Badshahi Mosque in Lahore, and you’ll soon start to peel back the layers of a country steeped in history and religious influence. While in Lahore, visit the Lahore Fort, located in the famed Walled City. The Lahore Fort dates back over 450 years, and if walls could talk what a tale it could tell! With Islamic and Hindu influences, the Lahore Fort is well worth a visit for its stunning architecture, commanding monuments and beautiful gardens. Also check out Masjid Wazir Khan mosque for its incredible fresco and mosaics. Of course, one of Pakistan’s biggest drawcards is the mountains and its landscapes. The breath-taking scenery of Pakistan’s formidable mountain ranges, which includes the Himalayas and the Karakoram Ranges, will captivate you. While there is plenty of trekking and mountaineering to do in Pakistan, you don’t need to scale great heights to enjoy some incredible scenery. Lake Saif-ul-Maluk is one of the most iconic images of Pakistan and must be seen to be believed.
