If you’ve only got one day to explore Manila, Intramuros is a must. Soak in the rich history of the region by embarking on a walking tour, which will include Fort Santiago and San Agustin Church. If time permits, skip over to Rizal Park (adjacent to Intramuros) to roll out a rug and have a picnic or explore some monuments. 

For convenience, many first-timers tend to gravitate towards Makati, the business district of the Philippines. There are shops, restaurants, a buzzing nightlife and plenty of cultural attractions to keep visitors entertained, fed and hydrated. Malate and Ermita are also popular for nightlife and attractions while Quezon City attracts foodies with its mouth-watering array of street food.

Dry season in Manila tends to span from January to April, though from March the temperature begins to climb considerably. The wet season is from June to November, which is not only rainy, it can be hot and humid making it harder to get around. 

Manila is a vibrant and bustling metropolis with plenty to see, do and devour. Visitors can spend their days marvelling at the various monuments and historical sites before rolling out a rug for a picnic in Rizal Park. There’s amusement parks and marine parks, some seriously amazing shopping, museums, markets and nightlife.

Unfortunately Metropolitan Manila is known to experience some pretty hectic traffic jams, which is probably to be expected with nearly 13 million people moving around. Having your own wheels could become more hassle than it’s worth. An alternative are the jeepneys, taxis, Grab, which is southeast Asia’s answer to Uber, Light Rail Train and a metro rail line. Walking is also an option. 

Light and breezy clothing and comfortable walking shoes are a must! Everything else you can source while you’re there, the shopping here is incredible.

It depends how long you have! You could easily spend your entire holiday exploring Rizal Park and Intramuros. If you have extra time, check out the local museums including National Museum of Fine Arts and the National Museum of Natural History. Shopping is also excellent in Manila with plenty of malls and markets to peruse.
