If you’re happy to kick around town, Tulum is fairly walkable, and there are plenty of taxis and bike rentals available. Those looking to get out and do some day trips and sightseeing a little further afield may find a car is helpful.

Attracted by the promise of warm, sun-drenched days, it’s no wonder Tulum’s high season stretches from December to April. Those who aren’t fond of the crowds and high prices of peak periods, consider visiting during the shoulder seasons of spring and fall. There really is no bad time to visit Tulum, you might just have to plan a few indoor activities if you’re headed there in the rainy season.
