The trendy and vibrant neighbourhoods of Condesa, Roma Norte, Zona Rosa and Centro Historico boast plenty of boutique shops, art galleries, delicious restaurants, and are generally considered safe and welcoming for visitors. Best to do your research before booking and heed the warnings on which areas to avoid. Maybe skip Tepito, Doctores and Iztapalapa.

Ready for a fiesta? The best time to visit Mexico City is between March and May, when the city is filled to the brim with colourful festivals and blooming jacarandas. That said, there’s really no bad time of year to visit Mexico.
