Frequently asked questions

What to take on holiday to Venice?

When packing for a trip to Venice, don't forget the essentials like your visa, passport, chargers, camera, some euro and the correct power adaptor. Clothing wise, check out the seasonality guides and pack to suit the conditions - aka plenty of layers for winter and lighter options for summer. Other necessities include a walking shoes, hat, sunglasses and a good pair of jeans. Oh and if you’re lactose or gluten intolerant bring some medication to get you through. Life’s too short not to fill up on gelato and pizza in Italy.

Where to go on holiday in Venice?

Venice is an incredibly walkable city, and the lack of cars means you have no choice but to get your steps up or catch a gondola. With this in mind, popular areas to stay include Dorsoduro, Santa Croce, San Polo, Castella and on the outer islands of Murano and Burano.

When is the best time to visit Venice?

Italy offers travellers the chance to experience four unique seasons: primavera (spring) between March and May, estate (summer) from June until August, autunno (autumn) running from September until November and inverno (winter) between December and February. Venice’s climate means it experiences cold winters and hot, humid summers. While summer tends to be the most popular time for tourists, the best time to travel Venice truly depends on what you’re hoping to experience.

What is there to do in Venice?

Venice is the ideal place to have absolutely nothing planned. Rather, step outside your door and spend your days exploring the endless streets and picturesque canals, stopping in to boutiques and cafes before catching a water taxi to outer islands like Murano and Burano. When you’re not taking in the sites at St Mark’s Square or shopping for treats at the Rialto Market, be sure to dedicate plenty of time to devouring as much pizza and gelato as possible.
