The immense state of Western Australia spans across a third of the country. With its friendly coastal capital of Perth and the incredible vastness of the wild Kimberley region, Western Australia can deliver the ideal holiday to all types of visitor. The state’s huge size means it is almost impossible to describe in a few words and a few days, which is why we’ve created holidays that take in multiple spots around the state. Lovers of wine, wildlife and stunning scenery should head to the tranquil Margaret River region, while those looking to experience some of Australia’s exotic marine life should venture north along the Coral Coast to swim with whale sharks and see wild dolphins.

When to Go to Western Australia

As such a large state, Western Australia’s climate is incredibly diverse, ranging from Mediterranean in the south to tropical in the north. Luckily for you, this means there’s always somewhere sunny to explore in the state no matter what time of year you visit. Temperatures do drop in the winter months of June to August, particularly in the lower end of the state with temperatures in Perth dropping to 12°C. These cooler conditions make for a great time to visit the Margaret River for country walks and wine tasting. March to July is also the best time to visit Western Australia to swim with whale sharks, while the summer months of December to February are best spent cooling off at the beaches near Perth and Freemantle.
