Tailor-made South Australia Holidays

Kangaroo Island, South Australia

South Australia is where the Down Under’s wild side really shines. And from the dramatic cliffs of the Great Australian Bight to the burnt red sands of the Outback, wildlife encounters abound. If you love getting in touch with nature, you can swim with dolphins in Glenelg, whale watch in Victor Harbor and search for sea lions in the Eyre Peninsula. And then there’s Kangaroo Island – where koalas, echidnas and of course kangaroos are the main residents. Or, if it’s rugged landscapes you’re looking for, it doesn’t get any wilder than the Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park – home to nature’s grand amphitheatre: Wilpena Pound.

Popular Tailor-made South Australia Holiday Itineraries

It’s hard not to be seduced by the rugged, wild nature of South Australia. Here, unrivalled wildlife encounters, incredible self-drives and laid-back city living is the order of the day. Combine this with the allure of the Clare and Barossa Valleys, and it’s got all the key ingredients to make the perfect holiday itinerary. And that’s where Flight Centre comes in. Our range of tailor-made South Australia holidays called Journeys include the best experiences in the state, as well as flights, hotels, transfers and car hire.

Where to Go in South Australia

South Australia is easily one of the most underrated states. Surprising really, as there’s so much to see and do here. Soak up the culture and artistic heritage of Adelaide, search for wild dolphins in Glenelg, and sample world-class vinos in the Clare and Barossa Valleys. If it’s diverse landscapes you’re after, try the sandy, unfenced wilderness that is Kangaroo Island or soar over the undulating alien landscapes of Wilpena Pound on a helicopter flightseeing tour.

When to Go to South Australia

We love the ‘Festival State’ all year-round – there’s always something to do here, from food and wine celebrations to concerts. But it’s also no secret that the climate varies across South Australia, dependant on where you go. Generally, you can expect hot and dry weather in the north and wet and mild in the southern coastal regions, including Adelaide. The state capital is meant to be the driest in Australia, but still receives around 540mm of rainfall each year, so visit in the spring or summer if you want to avoid getting wet.
