Frequently asked questions

Lord Howe Island truly is a slice of paradise, with impossibly clear turquoise waters, white-sand beaches and an abundance of unique wildlife. Be sure to pack your swimmers, snorkelling gear and some comfortable shoes or boots for hiking and exploring.

The entire island is only 11-kilometres long so you’re never too far from fun. Take a guided tour to the summit of Mount Gower, snorkel the vibrant coral reefs of the Admiralty Islands or simply relax on the secluded beaches of North Bay. With only 400 visitors allowed on the island at a time, you'll have plenty of space to enjoy this remote oasis.

With only 400 visitors allowed on the island at any one time, the best time to visit Lord Howe Island is any time you can! Summer (December to February) is peak season but the shoulder seasons outside of that, from September to November, and from March to May, offer slightly less steamy days making them ideal for hiking and biking.

Go fishing, have a swing of golf, try stand-up paddleboarding, kayak, snorkel, hike, bike, enjoy a massage, anything but check your emails as there’s no phone reception. Embrace that for the blessing it is and enjoy some much-needed downtime.
