Every holiday starts with a flight and there are plenty of options for you to consider when you travel to South Africa. The most popular choice is to complement a South African holiday with some time in Dubai, Doha, or Nairobi.

Dubai

Which airlines fly to South Africa via Dubai: Emirates

Break up your journey and discover Dubai. Soaring skyscrapers, sensational shopping and seven-star hotels – Dubai is evolving at breathtaking speed. But there’s more to this city than meets the eye…

Dubai is a city of two halves. It boasts a fascinating old centre dotted with traditional coral-stone souks and picturesque minarets, best appreciated during a ride across the Dubai Creek. The modern city has plenty of showstoppers too, standout attractions including the sail-shaped Burj Al Arab Jumeirah seven-star hotel and the cloud-capped Burj Khalifa with jaw-dropping views from its observation decks.

If you have more time to spend, there’s a superb stretch of free beach in Dubai Marina of gorgeous white sand to relax on or you can get away from the city on one of the popular sunset safaris.

Doha

Which airlines fly to South Africa via Doha: Qatar Airways

Make the most of your journey with a stop in the capital of Qatar located on the coast of the Persian Gulf. Doha, the host of the 2022 World Cup, showcases a rapidly emerging city with deep heritage and traditonal souqs.

Wander through the incredible Souq Waqif, take a look at the world-class Museum of Islamic Art or indulge in a tour of the city developing right before your eyes.

Nairobi

Which airlines fly to South Africa via Nairobi: Kenya Airways

The capital of Kenya, translates as "cool water", is known as Africa's safari city. Nairobi is one of Africas fastest-growing citites where you can find bustling markets, lively nightlife, and a selection of varied restaurants.

It is home to the Nairobi National Park that houses giraffes, zebras, cheetah, and lions. You can see them on a Nairobi Safri Walk or you can visit them at the animal orphanage.

On a clear day, look for Mount Kenya or Mount Kilimanjaro which are both visible form 'The Green City in the Sun'.
