Melbourne Airport

All international flights to Melbourne disembark at Melbourne Airport (MEL), also known as Tullamarine Airport. As the second busiest airport in Australia, Melbourne Airport spans three terminals and experiences over 22 million passengers each year.

Useful Information

British passport holders will need a visa in order to enter Australia. There are two kinds of visas available: an eVisitor visa, for which there is no charge, and an Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) from your travel agent or airline, for which there’s a service fee of AU$20. eVisitor visas are available from the  Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection or from the  Australian High Commission in London. For travel on non-British passports or for more information, please ask your consultant.

Creativity, fashion and sophistication run rampant in Melbourne, with boutique galleries, designer markets and numerous things to do within the city and surronding areas. For a true taste of Melbourne's creative side, head along to the Rose Street Artists' Market in Fitzroy on a Saturday or Sunday, or explore the Australian Centre for Moving Image at Federation Square, a cutting-edge centre dedicated to animation, movies and all forms of moving images.

Another obsession that's almost impossible to escape in Melbourne is sport. The home of Australian Rules Football (AFL) has footy grounds dotted throughout, and everywhere you look are team colours and devoted fans. Don't miss an opportunity to go and watch an AFL game at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Having previously hosted both the Olympic Games and Commonwealth Games, the city is bursting with sporting monuments and has an impeccable public transport infrastructure.

Be sure to escape the city at some point and take a short drive to the trendy beachside suburb of St Kilda. This is not your average coastal destination like the Gold Coast in Queensland or Bondi in Sydney. Instead you'll find a charming seaside vibe and a neighbourhood overflowing with character all year round, regardless of the weather.
