Getting Round Toronto

Toronto is a large city, in order to explore it in detail you’ll need to use the clean and efficient public transport system. If you’re heading off on a self-drive holiday around Canada’s east coast, or bound for Niagara Falls, then extending your car hire for an extra day or two to cover your time in the city is a good value option, but beware of traffic congestion when driving in centre. For something a little easier, try the 3-line subway system, the bus or the streetcars. Toronto is the only city in Canada with streetcars, which are something of a novelty, but a reliable and fun way to get around the city.

When to Go to Toronto

While Canada as a whole can be subject to huge temperature variations, Toronto avoids the extremes due to its position on the edge of Lake Ontario, which moderates the local climate, keeping summers mild and winters relatively warm. In terms of events, some of the best times to visit Toronto is during Cherry Blossom season in May or for Toronto’s Festival of Beer which is held in late July.
