JetBlue Airways Guide

JetBlue Aircraft
  • Overview
  • Before you fly
  • In the air

Founded in 2000, JetBlue flies out of London Heathrow and London Gatwick here in the UK, with a focus on flights to New York, Boston, Los Angeles, Orlando and San Juan.

Boasting a strong culture, distinctive in-flight experience, and award-winning customer service, JetBlue flights to/from London utilise the new Airbus A321 Long Range, which has just 114 seats and 24 fully lie-flat private suites with a sliding door. That means more personalised attention, more personal space (instead of more persons in your space), and less hassle boarding and de-planing.

Check-in

Web & Mobile Check-in

You can check in for your JetBlue flight up to 24 hours before departure online or on the free JetBlue mobile app. And, when you add your checked bags in advance, you can get your bag tags by simply scanning your boarding pass (mobile or printed) at a kiosk.

Airport Check-in

Self-service check-in kiosks make it easy to check yourself in at the airport — as well as the other travellers on your reservation — with just a few clicks or taps. You can also add bags, change seats and add your TrueBlue or Known Traveler numbers if you didn’t add them when you booked your trip. Once complete, just proceed to the bag drop-off point before heading to security. Get to the gate faster with your fast lane to the security checkpoint using the Even More Speed service available at both London airports for Mint, Mosaic, Blue Extra and Even More Space customers.

Recommended check-in time if you’re checking bags is 3 hours prior to scheduled departure. All international flights close 60 minutes prior to scheduled departure.

Baggage Allowance

Carry-on allowance

All fares include 1 personal item that fits under the seat in front of you. This could be a purse, back pack, laptop bag or approved pet carrier. Personal items cannot exceed 17" L (43.2 cm) x 13" W (33 cm) x 8" H (20.32 cm).

Checked baggage allowance

You can add up to 2 checked bags anytime, from during the booking to when you arrive at the airport. If your fare does not include checked bags, you’ll save money by purchasing them in advance online or the JetBlue app.

Before you pack, make sure your bags meet the checked bag size dimensions and weight requirements. Checked bags exceeding 62" (157.48 cm) in overall dimensions (length + width + height) or 22.68 kg will incur a fee.

Overweight or oversized baggage

Bags that don’t meet the dimensions and/or weight restrictions are considered oversized and/or overweight and will be charged as follows:

  • 23.13 kg – 44.91 kg: £120 per bag to/from London
  • 63" in (160 cm) – 80 in (203.3 cm, including wheels and handles): £120 per bag to/from London

Sporting, musical or media equipment can be checked as part of your baggage allowance, but you might need to pay extra if they are large or heavy. Check with your Flight Centre Consultant in advance for specific allowances.

JetBlue cabins start from Basic Blue, however, there’s nothing minimal about this class: brand-name snacks, entertainment, power sockets, and more are included on all flights. For maximum flexibility, upgrade to a premium cabin that lets you choose what's most valuable to you, including advance seat selection, boarding priority, points earned and more. Speak to your Flight Centre Travel Consultant to discuss the best option for your flight.

Entertainment: Stay connected non-stop with free, high-speed Wi-Fi at every seat, on every JetBlue-operated flight. Plug in your personal (wired) earphones to enjoy free movies, TV and more within your coverage area. Earphones are available for purchase onboard if you forget yours.

Food and Beverage: Travellers flying internationally from London will enjoy free treats from the in-flight JetBlue snack bar and a delicious farm-to-table meal service, including complimentary wine, beer, spirits, and soft drinks. Tasty dishes include crepes with smoked turkey, brie, and caramelised onion jam, sesame noodles with ginger and garlic tofu, and pesto pasta salad with grilled chicken. Crucially, food is served on reusable dishes to help reduce the airline's carbon footprint.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is TrueBlue?

TrueBlue is JetBlue's award-winning loyalty programme, where you can rack up awards both when you travel, and on everyday purchases through JetBlue's partners. In addition to earning points towards award travel, TrueBlue members can enjoy rewards, perks, and a more personalised travel experience. Plus, you’ll be one of the first to hear about deals, new routes and all things JetBlue.

How do I check-in?

Online check-in opens 24 hours before your flight departs. At this point you can print, download or email your boarding pass from the JetBlue website. You can also check-in with the JetBlue app to receive a mobile boarding pass. Alternatively, there are kiosks at the airport where you can check-in and print your boarding pass, as well as seeking any help required at the check-in desks.

What are the cabins and seats like?

Choose the most legroom in Economy with a seat width that rivals many wide-body aircraft, Even More® Space, or your very own Mint Suite or Studio. Mint is JetBlue's take on a premium travel experience - each Mint Suite offers direct aisle access, a sliding door for privacy, a fully lie-flat seat built with Tuft & Needle's T&N Adaptive® Foam cushions, a memory foam pillow, customisable blanket, and comfy slippers. Plus, the new front-row Mint Studio boasts the largest TV on a U.S. airline, and an extra seat and space to work, lounge and entertain a fellow Mint traveller.

Can I choose my seat in advance?

Complimentary seat selection will depend on your ticket type. Blue Basic tickets do not include seat selection and these will be automatically allocated. However, you can opt to reserve a seat for a fee, or book Blue, Blue Plus, Blue Extra or Mint fares which include advance seat selection.

Is there Wi-Fi onboard?

Enjoy free unlimited high-speed Wi-Fi with easy-to-reach USB-C power (in addition to AC and USB-A).
