Hurtigruten is an expedition cruise line that specialises in travel to the world’s most thrilling and remote region. Dating back to 1893 when the cruise line sailed the Norwegian Coast, Hurtigruten has a large focus on expedition cruises that offer unique nature-based experiences and aim to leave the smallest environmental footprint possible.

Why we recommend Hurtigruten

  • Norwegian Coast: Hurtigruten’s primary destination is Norway, where it operates daily departures of a passenger and freight shipping service along Norway’s coast between Bergen and Kirkenes.
  • Destinations: In addition to Norway, Hurtigruten also sails to a range of remote destinations such as Antarctica, the Northwest Passage, Greenland, Iceland, South America, North America and more.
  • Shore excursions: You won’t find the typical bus tours on Hurtigruten’s list of excursions. Instead, you can choose from thrilling activities such as husky sledding in Norway, kayaking in Antarctica and hiking tours in Greenland.
  • Expedition ships: Hurtigruten has a fleet of 11 purpose-built ships varying in size and amenities including pools, Jacuzzis, fitness rooms, sun decks, observation lounges and various restaurants. One of Hurtigruten’s main ships, MS Finnmarken, features both a swimming pool and Jaccuzi on deck, as well as beautiful Art Deco decor.
