Lisbon Airport is an easy 20-minute drive from the city centre (depending on traffic), making taxi services a comfortable and efficient mode of transport. Look for taxi ranks outside the arrivals and departures terminals at Lisbon Airport. Rideshare options like Uber and Bolt are also available from the dedicated pick-up area on Level 2 (Arrivals level).

The Lisbon Metro network is one of the easiest ways to get from the airport to the city centre by public transport, and the Red Line (Linha Vermelha) will see you exploring downtown Lisbon in roughly 20 minutes. Bus and train options are also available but may require more connections and longer wait times, so in most cases the Metro will be more convenient unless you’re travelling outside of Lisbon to another area of Portugal. A free shuttle service connects Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, running approximately every 12 minutes between 3:30am and 12:30am (the next day). The journey takes less than five minutes, picking up and dropping off from the Departures areas of both terminals.  

As a busy international airport, there are lots of different airlines servicing Lisbon Airport (LIS). Major carriers include TAP Air Portugal, Ryanair, easyJet, British Airways and Air France. For a more complete list, see the page above. 

As a general rule, you should aim to arrive at Lisbon Airport at least two hours before your scheduled departure time for flights within the Schengen Area or to the UK and Ireland, and three hours before long-haul international flights. This should give you plenty of time to complete check-in, drop your bags and pass through any necessary security screenings before your boarding time. Keep in mind that you may experience longer lines and delays during busy travel periods, so check with the airport, airline or your Travel Expert directly for more information on recommended arrival times.

A free shuttle service runs approximately every 12 minutes between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 for passengers needing to transfer between the terminals and the journey takes less than five minutes.
