Acapulco Airport (ACA) Guide

About Acapulco Airport (ACA)

Acapulco Airport, officially named General Juan N. Álvarez International Airport, is the gateway to one of Mexico’s most iconic Pacific coast resort cities. Located around 26 kilometres southeast of the city centre, the airport is nestled between Tres Palos Lagoon and the ocean – so don’t be surprised if your landing feels more like the opening scene of a holiday film. ACA is a single-terminal airport operated by Grupo Aeroportuario Centro Norte and handles both domestic and international flights, connecting sun-seekers to popular Mexican cities as well as seasonal routes to the United States and Canada.

Check-in

Acapulco Airport has a single passenger terminal serving both domestic and international flights, so there’s no need to worry about finding the right building. It’s always a good idea to arrive at the airport nice and early for your flight, and to confirm check-in times directly with your airline as each may have different requirements. As a general guide, aim for at least two hours before domestic departures and three hours before international flights. Remember, it’s often possible to check in for your flights online in advance via your airline’s website or app, which can be a handy way to save time at the airport on the day of travel.

Baggage

Baggage allowances vary by airline and ticket class, so it’s important to confirm what’s included with your flight booking to avoid any surprises at bag drop! For more specific information on baggage limits, such as the size, weight and number of bags included in your airfare, check with your airline or ask your Travel Expert for assistance. If you’ve left something behind at the airport, Acapulco has a Lost & Found office that handles items forgotten in the terminal – just don’t leave it too long or your favourite hat might find a new home!
