Information about Virgin Atlantic

Virgin Atlantic is a British airline known for its ‘disruptor’ brand personality and high-profile founder, Richard Branson. Since its humble beginnings in 1984, Virgin Atlantic has become one of the largest airlines in Britain, operating a young and modern fleet of Airbus and Boeing aircraft. A fun twist with the Virgin Atlantic fleet is that the aircraft have all been given names like Wendy Darling, Lucy in the Sky, Eliza Doolittle and Joan Jett to honour iconic women in culture! Virgin Atlantic flights are available to 32 destinations across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Africa, North America, Mexico and the Caribbean, and passengers can choose to travel in Economy, Premium or Upper Class. Within Economy Class, travellers can book Virgin Atlantic tickets in Light, Classic or Delight depending on whether they require checked baggage, extra legroom or priority boarding. Book your Virgin Atlantic airfare online or in-store today!

While last-minute Virgin Atlantic sale fares may become available, you’ll generally find it pays to plan ahead. Most airlines release tickets around 11 months in advance, and as a rough guide, we recommend booking your flights between six and nine months before you plan to travel. When it comes to balancing airfare availability with the biggest savings, this should give you the best of both worlds!

Flying in Economy? Virgin Atlantic tickets will allow you to bring one carry-on bag (23 cm x 36 cm x 56 cm) with a maximum weight of 10kg.

In most cases, Economy Classic or Delight passengers can also bring one checked bag weighing up to 23kg with a maximum linear dimension of 208 cm. The linear dimension of your bag is calculated by adding the height, length and width (including wheels and handles).

Baggage allowances will vary depending on your flight itinerary, ticket class and loyalty program status, so check your tickets to see what’s included with your Virgin Atlantic airfare. Need to add extra baggage to your flight booking? Talk to your Travel Expert before heading to the airport!

You may be able to earn frequent flyer points when booking Virgin Atlantic flights with us. You can ask your Travel Expert to do it for you when booking in-store. If your Virgin Atlantic airfare meets your program’s requirements, you’ll earn points! For more information, check with your specific loyalty program and see our Booking Terms and Conditions

In the UK, London Heathrow is the primary hub for Virgin Atlantic’s major long-haul services and Manchester Airport acts as a secondary hub with a focus on transatlantic routes. New York serves as a high-profile destination and historically significant route for the airline, along with other major US cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco on the West Coast and Orlando for leisure travellers bound for Florida theme parks! Barbados and other Caribbean destinations are also popular with UK holidaymakers in summer.

We sure do! When you book Virgin Atlantic flights with us, you’ll have access to our experienced team of Travel Experts before you take off, as well as 24/7 emergency support for added peace of mind while you’re away.
