There are lots of ways to pay for your Qantas airfare, including credit or debit cards. More information and a full list of accepted payment methods is available in our Help Centre. 

To check the status of your Qantas flights after booking, talk to your Travel Expert or use the real-time flight status search tool on the Qantas website if you’re departing within the next few days. While last-minute Qantas sale fares may become available, you’ll generally find it pays to plan ahead, especially when booking international flights. Most airlines release tickets around 11 months in advance, and as a rough guide, we recommend booking between six and nine months before you plan to fly. When it comes to balancing flexible travel dates with the biggest savings, this should give you the best of both worlds!

Flying domestic? Qantas tickets will generally allow you to bring one personal item plus a choice between one standard carry-on bag (56 cm x 36 cm x 23 cm) weighing up to 10kg OR two smaller carry-on bags (48 cm x 34 cm x 23 cm) with a combined maximum weight of 14kg. In most cases, Economy passengers can also bring one checked bag weighing up to 23kg.

Flying international? Most Economy Qantas airfares will allow you to bring one personal item and one carry-on bag (56 cm x 36 cm x 23 cm) weighing up to 7kg. You’ll likely also be able to bring one checked bag with a maximum weight of 30kg.

Baggage allowances may vary depending on your flight itinerary, loyalty program status and ticket class, so make sure you check what’s included with your specific Qantas tickets. Need to add extra baggage to your booking? Talk to your Travel Expert before take-off. 

You may be able to earn frequent flyer points when booking Qantas flights with us. You can ask your Travel Expert to do it for you when booking in-store. Sydney (SYD): Apart from being a primary hub, Sydney is Australia’s biggest city and financial centre. Qantas operates an extensive domestic network from here and runs flagship long-haul services to the USA (Los Angeles, Dallas-Fort Worth) and Europe (typically via Singapore or Perth).

Melbourne (MEL): A significant cultural and economic centre, Qantas uses Melbourne for both domestic connections and international routes, including to the USA and Asia.

Brisbane (BNE): Qantas has been increasing international services from Brisbane, catering to the growing local market.

Los Angeles (LAX): Historically important transpacific route. Qantas has strong brand recognition in the US–Australia market.

London Heathrow (LHR): The Kangaroo Route between Australia and the UK is a classic route for Qantas passengers. They’ve operated it via Singapore, Dubai (in partnership with Emirates) and, more recently, Perth.
