Most airlines release tickets around 11 months in advance, and as a rough guide, we recommend booking your Air New Zealand flights between six and nine months before you fly. When you book Air New Zealand flights in Economy, you can generally bring one small item (like a purse, laptop or handbag) plus one carry-on bag weighing up to 7kg with a maximum linear dimension of 118 cm. You can calculate the linear dimension of your bag by adding the height, length and width (including wheels and handles) together.

For checked baggage, an international Economy Air New Zealand airfare will typically allow you to bring one bag weighing up to 23kg with a maximum linear dimension of 158 cm.
