Flight Centre Schools Triathlon 2020
We just love Restless Development and the amazing work they do to support thousands of young people worldwide as they fight for change within their communities. That's why we're over the moon to be part of the Flight Centre Schools Triathlon for the fifth time in 2020! Things look a bit different this year, but we'll still be sharing some amazing virtual initiatives and how YOU can help this incredible charity. Best of all, we're pleased to be part of an initiative that has raised over £1 million for Restless Development, and other local charities.
As a result of the global pandemic, a lot of our plans for 2020 – whether it be at work, at home, social activities or charity events – have been put on hold... but it's going to take more than a pandemic to stop young people from trying to change the world.
That's why, in place of the physical events, Restless Development has launched #TriThisAtHome, a virtual challenge around the whole world (40,075km / 24,901 miles) to raise money for young people tackling COVID-19. This groundbreaking virtual challenge is set to take place between 14th July and 30th August 2020. To find out more about the challenge or pre-register to take part, visit the Flight Centre School’s Triathlon website. Participants can either raise their own sponsorship or donate £5 to enter.
About Restless Development
Restless Development is a global charity that supports and trains young people to fight for change in their communities. Whether that’s campaigning on issues such as climate change or child marriage, ending gender inequality, or setting up a small business to support themselves and their families, Restless Development works with over 500,000 young people each year to change their lives and the lives of people in their communities.
The COVID-19 pandemic has hit communities around the world with sudden and devastating force. The work of Restless Development, usually supported by the incredible fundraising of the young triathletes during the Flight Centre School’s Triathlon, has been redirected to helping communities tackle the pandemic. From supporting young women who are making face masks in Tanzania, to a young man who’s been making hand sanitiser for his community, young people are tackling the pandemic in creative, effective and essential ways and Restless Development helps them do it.
*Please note: the physical triathlons are postponed due to COVID-19. Every parent/guardian of a child who is fully registered for 2020 has been sent an email regarding this. See here for updates and FAQs.
