A First Timer's Guide to Atlantic City

Bursting with amusements and attractions, Atlantic City is a small resort town known for its casinos connected by the world’s longest boardwalk. While this location is known primarily for gambling, it has plenty more to offer, with everything from shopping to spas and steakhouses. With this in mind, here is a run down of the top activities to experience in Atlantic City if you are visiting for the first time.

Amuse Yourself at the Boardwalk

No visit to Atlantic City is complete without experiencing the iconic boardwalk. Here you will find four miles of attractions that appeal to all ages including escape rooms, carnival style amusements and souvenir stores. Dating back to 1870, this spot is a veritable Aladdin’s cave of treasures, with shops selling everything and anything. Swing by Fralinger’s for its traditional salt water taffy and don’t leave without devouring one of the world famous subs.

Hit the Beach

Atlantic City is often referred to as a miniature Las Vegas and while it has the same glamourous hotels and a similarly wild gambling scene, it also boasts ocean views and a beautiful beach. You can access the beach directly from the boardwalk and watch the boogie boarders in all their glory. Catch the rays or get out there and enjoy the surf!

Shop Til You Drop

Seaside resorts aren’t often known for luxury boutiques, but Atlantic City is full of surprises. If it’s retail therapy you desire, you definitely won’t be disappointed. The Pier Shops at Caesars boasts a number of high-end brands as do the Borgata hotel and the Tropicana hotel where you will find shops such as Hugo Boss and Just Cavalli, but if you are looking for budget friendly shopping, there are plenty of shopping malls and designer outlets on the outskirts of the city that fit the bill. Tanger Outlets is just one of the places to grab a fashion bargain if you are on a budget.

Drink, Dine and Dance the Night Away at the Borgata Hotel

Perhaps the most famous hotel and casino on the strip, the Borgata hotel is home to a range of hedonistic delights. With no less than 11 restaurants, you are bound to find something to satisfy even the pickiest of palettes. There is no shortage of entertainment here and you can enjoy everything from comedy shows to bands. The Gypsy bar is the place to be if you like fancy cocktails with a side of live music.

Explore the Steel Pier

One of America’s most visited tourist attractions, the Steel Pier is a collection of rides, roller coasters and carrousels not to mention an illuminated Ferris wheel that stands at a whopping 227 feet high. There is something for all ages here and heaps of fun to find whether you want to hop on the tea cups with the little ones or get your pulse racing with one of the adult-only thrill rides.

Relax and Recharge at the Spa

While the gaudy pier and glitzy casinos are bustling with tourists, there are also plenty of opportunities to rest and relax away from the crowds. Harrah’s Hotel is where you can find the Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa which is a haven for luxurious treatments. Speaking of pampering paradises, you’ll find the QUA Bath and Spa tucked away at the Caesars Hotel which boasts tranquil decor inspired by ancient Rome. Lastly, there’s the luxurious Spa Toccare in the Borgata Hotel that can cater to all of your pampering requirements. We can’t think of a better way to end your trip.

These are just a few of the must-see activities to factor in to your Atlantic City itinerary. What will you do first?
