Tasmania Holidays

Wineglass Bay, Tasmania

The isolated state of Tasmania definitely has its own distinct character, and is an ideal destination for nature-lovers, with over 45% of its land protected in 19 national parks. When visiting Tasmania you can really get away from it all and lose yourself in the natural beauty of the craggy mountains, crystalline lakes and breathtaking beaches. The lively port city of Hobart has a thriving arts scene and is a great place to begin your exploration. From there, venture north-west to the rugged beauty of Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park, or head to the east coast to experience the incredible beaches along the Freycinet Peninsula.

When to Go to Tasmania

Tasmania’s cool and temperate climate brings warm summers and mild winters to the island. Summer is the most popular time to visit, although the crisp sunny days of spring and autumn are delightful too, and in winter, the land turns white with snow. For events, Tasmania is the end destination for the popular Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race which takes place between Christmas and New Year, while in winter Australians head to the island to take part in the Dark MOFO event at Hobart’s Museum of Old and New Art.
