Today, you’ll start your journey up the west coast. Your first stop will be in Cervantes – the gateway to the mysterious moonscape of the Pinnacles in Nambung National Park. Spend the afternoon lazing on the pristine beach or partaking in a range of water-sport adventures, before exploring otherworldly natural limestone structures at sunset. The Pinnacles were formed approximately 25,000-30,000 years ago after the sea receded and left deposits of sea shells.

Continue your journey and marvel at the dream-like pink hues of the awe-inspiring Hutt Lagoon, before continuing your route to the pretty seaside town of Kalbarri, a beacon for outdoor enthusiasts. Blessed with a meandering coastline, protected swimming bays and surrounded by one of Australia’s most spectacular national parks, there’s plenty here to keep you busy. Follow the road to Carnarvon – the perfect base for exploring nearby Mount Augustus and the Kennedy Ranges. The next stop on your west coast adventure is Exmouth.
