Don’t miss the famous Shibuya Crossing either – one of the busiest intersections in the world. Walk through the lively Toyosu Fish Market, learn how to make sushi, and perhaps visit the beautiful grounds of the Imperial Palace East Garden.

Kyoto is home to around 2,000 temples, shrines, palaces and museums, as well as multi-storied pagodas which you can explore. Perhaps the most significant of them is Fushimi Inari, an ancient shrine at the base of the mountain with the same name. Look out for the sweetly docile deer of Nara too, who also call this region home. Take the chance to learn about Zen meditation and calligraphy, as well as Kembu, the art of using a Japanese sword.
