Coronavirus Travel Insurance
An important purchase for any holiday, book your travel insurance with the friendly Travel Consultants at Flight Centre. We work with Cover-More to ensure you travel with peace of mind and at an affordable price. It may be the last thing you want to think about before you travel, but travel insurance really is one thing you don’t want to leave home without. Whether hiking in the USA, scuba diving in Australia or visiting a temple in Thailand, accidents can happen no matter where you are in the world, which is why it’s essential to safeguard you, and your holiday, against the unexpected.
And, most importantly, our Cover-More policies now include COVID-19 cover in the form of pre-trip cancellation, trip curtailment & overseas quarantine. That means:
- Up to £10,000 cancellation cover if you have to cancel your trip because you, a close relative, a member of your household, travelling companion or friend who you arranged to stay with is diagnosed with COVID-19 within 14 days of your planned departure date
- Up to £10,000 cancellation cover if you're denied boarding on your pre-booked outbound travel due to contracting COVID-19 and have a medically approved positive test
- Up to £10,000 cancellation cover before travel if you're instructed to self-isolate because you, or a member of your household, is diagnosed with COVID-19
- Up to £10m medical and repatriation cover if you fall ill with COVID-19 or another illness while on holidays
- £30 per day confinement benefit (up to a maximum of £300) if you are ordered to isolate in your holiday accommodation due to a COVID-19 diagnosis
- We’ll make sure you get home safely if you need to stay longer in-destination due to illness or quarantine
- We’ll also cover the cost when a family member needs to stay with you due to your illness – including accommodation and travel costs to get home if they've missed their original flight
- We'll cover you if your trip is cut short due to the death of a close relative back in the UK as a result of COVID-19
The cover limits outlined above are based on the Single Trip or Annual Multi-Trip “Diamond” policy. Lower levels of cover will apply where the Economy, Silver or Gold policy is selected. Please refer to the Cover-More policy wording for full details and exclusions.
Working together with leading travel insurance provider Cover-More, we have developed a range of policies and insurance products that provide comprehensive protection – including COVID-19 cover – giving you complete peace of mind to enjoy every moment of your trip.

A new section has been added Section 20 which provides cover for medical expenses, curtailment and cancellation.
Medical covers unforeseen medical expenses incurred outside the UK due to contracting Covid-19 There is also cover for additional expenses such as accommodation and flights if you have to stay abroad longer than expected due to being diagnosed with Covid-19.
Curtailment covers the unused proportion of any travel or accommodation expenses you have paid for due to having to return early to the UK due to a close relative who is in the UK dying as a result of Covid-19.

Unfortunately not, the policy does not provide cover for this as there is a general exclusion that states; any claim arising from travel undertaken to an area where the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) advise against all or all but essential travel or where it is deemed unsafe for You to travel. If You are unsure, please check www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice.

As above this would fall under the general exclusion and there is no cover under any section of the policy if you travel to a country that the FCDO has advised against travel to.
Unfortunately the policy does not cover this scenario.
Yes, if you have been hospitalised or diagnosed with Covid-19 you must declare it like all other pre-existing medical conditions. There may be an additional premium payable.
No, there is no cover for any COVID-19 reason under the cancellation section of the policy and this scenario would be considered as disinclination to travel.
As long as you contact the emergency medical assistance company (details in the policy wording) and have the necessary evidence to support the self-isolation then there is cover for any medical costs incurred and any additional expenses for accommodation and flights. The cover would only be there for members of your family insured under your policy.
No, there is no cover for this scenario under the policy.
Yes, if the new trip is within 12 months of the original date you can amend the dates and there will be no additional charge unless there is a change to the destination or length of trip. For both single trip and annual policies there is a 14-day cooling off period which if you cancel during that time and have not travelled or submitted a claim you can receive a full refund. Please contact your Travel Consultant or Cover-More’s customer service department to arrange this.
The Best Time to Buy Your Travel Insurance Policy
A policy can be purchased anytime leading up to your departure date. Because most Cover-More plans include cover for cancellation costs and protection starts from the time the policy is purchased, it's a good idea to purchase right away to take full advantage of this benefit. Doing this means that, if you become ill and unfit to travel before you go away, any non-refundable money paid is covered.
Choosing the Right Policy
When buying any insurance policy you should always carefully consider the Product Disclosure Statement to see if it's right for you. This will give you a full rundown of what you're covered for and more importantly, what you're not covered for. Some things to look out for include:
- Benefit sub-limits
- Policy conditions
Does Cover Include Loss of Baggage?
Cover-More does provide cover for loss, theft and damage to your baggage. The amount you can claim up to will depend on the plan you choose to purchase. Please note, item limits and some exclusions do apply.
What are the Differences Between an Annual and Single-Trip Policy?
Annual multi-trip policies are designed to cover you for multiple trips during the year. You can choose the limit on the number of days per trip that you are allowed, like 30, 45 and 60 days per trip. Your trips must not exceed a total of 120 days.
Do I Need an Excess?
Cover-More offers you the option to waiver the excess on the policy, this means if you have to submit a claim there will be no excess deducted from the totel reimbursed. Alternatively, if you choose not to waiver the excess the policy will be cheaper however it will mean an excess will be deducted in the event of a claim.
How Long Do I Get to Cancel a Policy?
We are confident you will be happy with your policy, however you are able to receive a full refund on your insurance as long as we are contacted in writing within 14 days of the policy being issued and prior to departure. Conditions apply.
Can I purchase Cover-More Travel Insurance If I Don't Live in the UK?
To be able to purchase our policies you must be a resident in the UK. This means you must have a permanent UK address and be living in the UK at the time the policy is issued.
What Happens If Things Go Wrong?
Whether you become seriously ill and need to be hospitalised or simply lose your passport and are stuck abroad, every Cover-More insurance policy gives you access to a 24-hour Emergency Assistance team. This team can offer you practical support and guide you through your crisis 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
