Almost every city has a public square and main shopping and entertainment district, but there are few that can compare to the excitement and vibrancy of Piccadilly Circus. This famous square in the heart of London is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike and a place where first time visitors to London are sure to become familiar with. A large pedestrian mall, this is a great place to meet up with friends and from where much of the popular shopping, dining and local tourist sites are just a short walk away.

A major traffic thoroughfare and busy tube station make this a logically busy location and the proximity to London theatre life, retail stores and restaurants makes this an endlessly invigorating spot to take in the bustling capital city that is London. There’s no missing Piccadilly Circus and even first time visitors will be drawn into the electric atmosphere, made all the more exhilarating with its brightly lit neon signs, flashing billboards and video screens.

Just some of the main attractions on this famous square include the historic memorial fountain known as Eros. The London Pavilion has been a fixture of the square since 1885 and is today a popular shopping arcade. Recognisable by its imposing exterior columns, the building was once a theatre and music hall. Piccadilly Circus is just a short walk to Leicester Square, Trafalgar Square, Chinatown and Soho with its myriad of restaurants and shops.

Piccadilly Circus is located just north and about one kilometre away from St. James Park and Buckingham Palace. The quickest way to the square is via the Underground to Piccadilly Station which is served by the Bakerloo and Piccadilly lines. It’s easy to walk to the square as several main streets lead to Piccadilly including Regent Street, Shaftesbury Avenue and Haymarket.
