Your Example Itinerary
Fly from the UK to Cape Town.
Arrive in spectacular Cape Town, take a cruise around the bay, ascend the iconic table mountain and try out some of the city’s best restaurants. A variety of dining experiences awaits you, from the well-chosen wine list of Square, where your meal is accompanied by harp music, to lunch at Salt, a restaurants that specialises in local ingredients and serves over 70 delicious wines by the glass, with down-to-earth honest food and floor-to-ceiling sea views. Sample the fusion cuisine at Japanese-inspired Myoga, and discover contemporary heritage dishes at Catharina. Learn to cook the dishes yourself in your Cape Malay cookery class - the best part is you can eat what you cook!
Soak up the pretty mountain backdrop in stunning Stellenbosch, and discover the town’s history. A Mediterranean climate and dry summers have enabled the region to produce some of the world’s finest wines, which you can sample at various wine estates. Lunch is served in the beautiful Waterkloof Restaurant, a French-inspired affair situated on dramatic mountain slopes, where 10m high glass windows provide lovely views. Afterwards, discover the sublime combination of wine and chocolate in a tasting and pairing class.
Surrounded by majestic mountains, Franschhoek is your next stop. Have fun with your food as you take a wine and bread baking course, combining the wonderful aromas of freshly cooked bread with the full-bodied flavours of South African wines. Dine in style at the Tasting Room at Le Quartier Français, where you’ll indulge in an eight-course tasting menu involving various elements of surprise and nostalgia. Visit the estates, taste the wines, sample the cheeses and look out for the ingenious method used to remove champagne corks form the bottles.
Fly on to Johannesburg where you’ll spend the night. Dinner is served in Melrose Arch precinct, a vibrant and buzzing area of the city filled with swanky apartment blocks and penthouses. Experience a friendly African welcome at Moyo Restaurant, serving classic South African favourites with an international twist.
It’s time for the big finale as you board your onward flight to Sabi Sands, part of the greater Kruger National Park. Head into the bush on a guided game drive and see what you and your tracker can find in one of the most diverse, wildlife-rich areas in Africa. Sabi Sands is home to the fabled Big Five – leopard, lion, rhino, buffalo and elephant, so-called because they were the most difficult creatures to hunt on foot. Be sure to experience both a morning and an afternoon safari, as the animals exhibit different behaviours at different times of day. When not on safari, gaze from your viewing deck and see if you can spot grazing zebra, giraffe or kudu.
Depart Sabi Sands and return to the UK.
