Day 1
Fly from UK to Reykjavik
Day 1
Reykjavik.
Pick up your car and drive to your hotel in Hvergerdi, where you’ll spend the night.
Day 2
Thingvellir
Get ready for a day of incredible sights. Drive to Thingvellir National Park and marvel at the Gullfoss Waterfall and the Geysir hot springs. Hop back in the car and drive along the south shore for views of Skogafoss and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls.
Day 3
Hornafjordur
Today, you’ll make your way to Skaftafell, nestled below the great Vatnajokull glacier. Continue across the black sand plains and stop at the Jokulsarlon Glacial Lagoon, where many Hollywood blockbusters are filmed. Head onto the charming harbour town of Hofn, also known as the lobster capital of Europe.
Day 4
East Fjords
Continue along the rugged coastline of the East Fjords and gaze at the towering mountains and fishing villages. Take a boat tour to Papey Island and spot the adorable puffins who make this their home during summer.
Day 5
Dettifoss
Travel along the Modrudalsoraefi highlands, renowned for their stark, untouched beauty, and continue towards Dettifoss. Make sure your camera is fully charged to capture Europe’s mightiest waterfall. Visit the horseshoe-shaped canyon of Asbyrgi, before making your way to the Tjornes peninsula.
Day 6
Myvatn
Hop back on the car and continue to Lake Myvatn, where you’ll discover the mystical volcanic formations at Dimmuborgir, the pseudo craters at Skutustadir, and the Krafla volcanic area. Continue to Gooafoss waterfall on the way to Akureyri, considered the capital of North Iceland, where you can try to spot whales.
Day 7
Skagafjordur
Drive through the historical region of Skagafjordur. Continue to the bay of Hunafloi and discover the Borgarfjordur area.
Day 8
Depart Rekjavik and return to the UK
