With Honolulu-born chef Ed Kenney at its helm, Mahina & Sun’s showcases the best of Hawaii’s cuisine – from avocado on toast and cinnamon scones at breakfast, to poke bowls, stonebaked pizzas, and whole-roasted snapper. The puds are great too: save room for Uncle’s ice cream sandwiches – an oozy confection of salted caramel and double chocolate scoops. All ingredients are responsibly sourced from Oahu’s farmlands and local fishermen, but this is much more than just a restaurant: on any given evening you’ll be treated to live music, poolside concerts, and even movie screenings – plus happy hour cocktails galore.

Ask our Flight Centre Concierge team about booking your restaurants in advance.

Why we recommend The Surfjack Hotel and Swim Club

Whether you’re a surfer, beach-hopper, or simply in search of a super-stylish place to snooze, you’ll love this design hotel in Waikiki. While the resorts hog the seafront, this personable hotel (with just 112 vintage-inspired rooms) is just a short walk or bike ride from the sugar-white sands – as well as the area’s coolest restaurants, bars and shops. Just want to hang out? Head to the Swim Club, with its cocktails and loungers aplenty – a sun-kissed spot that transforms into an alfresco cinema every night. “We pride ourselves in showing our guests the lesser-sung-but-oh-so-enticing side of Waikiki,” say Surfjack’s friendly owners, who’ll happily point out the best galleries, coffee shops and surf breaks nearby. With new buddies like these, you’ll create memories that’ll last long after your tan has faded.
