Your Example Itinerary
Fly from the UK to Bordeaux.
Spend the first three days of your Journey exploring the beautiful region of Bordeaux. Famed for its wine-growing, half of the entire city is a World Heritage Site and the landscape is incredible. Visit the Cite du Vin wine museum, which boasts three state-of-the-art tasting rooms and an extraordinary round wine shop which is home to 800 wines. Take in the Triangle d’Or, or Golden Triangle, where you’ll find the Place de la Comedie and the Grand Theatre, with its magnificent neo-classical facade. Enjoy a concert here, or take a guided tour. Spend an afternoon wandering along the riverfront and take your pick from cafes and bars. You’ll even get a lesson in arguably the most famous red wine district in the world, Medoc, before the best part - tasting those fine wines with an expert.
4* Best Western Premier Bordeaux Bayonne Etche Ona
Hop aboard the train to Bordeaux Station, where you’ll pick up your car for the drive to Sarlat, a picturesque medieval town in Dordogne. Unwind with a gentle stroll through the maze of narrow streets which connect to the Rue de la Republique. Take in the impressive cathedral, before meandering on to the Rue des Consuls, which is home to some of the most incredible mansions in the region. In Sarlat, you can also enjoy some of the best preserved medieval architecture and track down your favourite restaurant and explore the popular markets. If you’re visiting in February and March, you can experience the annual goose festival, the Fest’Oie, when live birds and market stalls fill the streets and the region’s top chefs prepare an outdoor banquet.
4* Hotel De Selves
Drive onto Perigord Noir, the home of beautiful villages, magnificent castles, and world-class wine. This area is bursting with picturesque gardens to stroll through and mesmerising castles to visit. In fact, Perigord Noir is renowned for being the region with the most castles, and there are hundreds waiting to be explored. Our Travel Experts recommend a trip to Beynac, one of the most beautiful villages in the region. The UNESCO-listed Vezere Valley is where you’ll find the natural caves, while the famous Lascaux caves are in nearby Montignac. These are sealed off to the public, but you can visit a near-perfect replica at the International Cave Painting Centre in Lascaux.
4* La Chartreuse du Bignac
Return to Bordeaux and fly home to the UK.
