Fly from the UK to Paris
Days 1-2
Honfleur
Fly from the UK to Paris, meet your group and continue to Giverny. Visit the home of one of the world’s most celebrated artists – Monet. Here, you’ll wander the gardens that inspired his paintings and explore the colourful rooms before continuing to Honfleur. The next day, take a walking tour around Honfleur, visiting the 17th century harbour and calling in at the pretty village of Beuvron-en-Auge to taste the local cider and calvados.
3* Hôtel Fer à Cheval
Day 3
Bayeux
Spend the day exploring the windswept shoreline of the Normandy Beaches, where you’ll stand at the sites of the D-Day Landings. Learn about the history of what happened here in 1944, when allied forces launched an assault on Nazi-occupied France. Afterwards, you’ll pay a poignant visit to the American War Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer, where you’ll find the graves of thousands who lost their lives during the D-Day landings, before spending the night in Bayeux.
3* Hotel les Villas d'Arromanches
Days 4-5
Dinan
Continue on to the enchanting Mont St Michel, an island off the coast of Normandy. Don’t miss a look around the Abbey of Mont St Michel, which was once used as a prison, and the Chapelle Notre Dame sous Terre, which was built in 966. After exploring the cobbled streets, head to Dinan, which you’ll explore at your own pace the next day.
3* Hôtel Les Villas d'Arromanches
Days 6-7
Chinon
Your next stop is the spectacular Loire Valley, where the lush green countryside is dotted with grand castles. After exploring Angers, once the medieval stronghold of the Plantagenet kings, continue on to Chinon, where you’ll spend the night. In the morning, spend the day discovering one of the greatest chateaus in the Loire valley – Chateau de Villandry, which boasts wonderfully ornate gardens, stopping along the way to visit a regional winery for a glass or two.
4* Hôtel Diderot
Day 8
Chartres
Today you’ll explore the turrets and grounds of the Chateau de Chenonceau, one of the finest castles in the Loire Valley. The castle, built between 1514 and 1522, spans the River Cher, giving it its famous arched bridge and attached gallery, subject of many a Loire postcard. Spend your final night in Chartres, home to the delightful Chartres cathedral, one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture in France and a World Heritage Site.
4* Château de la Bourdaisière
