Your Example Itinerary
Fly from the UK to Beijing.
Arrive in Beijing and meet your guide for a city tour. Stand in the centre of Tiananmen Square, one of the world’s largest public plazas, and soak up the fascinating history of the Ming and Qing dynasties at the Forbidden City. Explore Beijing’s historic Hutong district by cyclo-rickshaw and gain an insight into traditional Chinese customs with a visit to a local family. The next day, travel to the Juyongguan section of the Great Wall of China, about two hours from Beijing by road.
Fly on to Xi’an and come face to face with the Terracotta Warriors, an army of over 7,000 intimidating soldiers. Take a stroll through the Muslim Quarter, visit the maze of market stalls and take in the streets from above with a walk on the ancient city wall, which dates from the 14th century. In the evening, tuck into a tasty dumpling dinner and watch a lively (and very colourful) Tang Dynasty Dancing Show.
Fly on to Shanghai, visit a traditional Chinese garden and take a walk around the historic Old Town. Take a look around the Silk Museum and its attached shop, where you’ll have the opportunity to buy a memento to take home with you. While in Shanghai, do not miss taking a walk along the atmospheric Bund, taking in the colonial architecture on one side of the Huangpu River and the futuristic Pudong skyline on the other.
Depart Shanghai and return to the UK.
