‘Uncomplicated, Unencumbered, Unforgettable’ is the mantra of this charming resort – and we couldn’t agree more. You’ll love the pristine white-sand beach, the friendly service, and the fantastic all-inclusive programme. Our tip? Book a superior suite: they really are something to write home about.

Standard Room
These great-value rooms feature everything you need for a restful Barbados break – plus a few little extras too. At the end of a long day’s beach hopping, you’ll be glad of the spacious bathroom and oh-so-comfortable kingsize bed – with an iPod docking station and bathrobes to help you relax.

Superior Room
These swish bedrooms don’t scrimp on space: you’ll appreciate the kingsize bed, double wardrobes, and big balcony (complete with two sunloungers). Located on the upper floors, you’ll enjoy lofty views of the gardens or pool – best enjoyed with a fruity rum cocktail in hand.

Deluxe Room
Upgrade to a deluxe residence for pool views, oodles of space, and lots of luxurious little extras – such as a deep-soak tub and fluffy bathrobes. The private terrace is a real sun trap, and provides a luscious sea breeze if you’d prefer to give the air conditioning a miss.

Right on the beach, with your very own private area for sunbathing, you’ll feel like one very lucky castaway indeed. Inside, a kingsize bed and double bathroom (with tub) await – plus an iPod docking station, cable TV, and minibar to really make this place feel like home.

Penthouse Suite
The hotel’s top spot is designed to make your holiday as memorable and magical as possible – with a four-poster kingsize bed, plunge pool on the patio, and one of the most comfortable day-bed sunloungers we’ve ever had the pleasure of reclining on. The double whirlpool tub and uninterrupted sea views are utterly sublime, too.

With its candlelit nooks and starched linen tablecloths caressed by the sea breeze, Julian is a date night favourite – offering haute cuisine with a Caribbean twist. It might be the hotel’s only restaurant, but the fare is varied, delicious, and lets local flavours shine: think grilled seafood, coconut curries, and rum-laced desserts. We really rate the friendly service at this intimate restaurant, and all dining and most beverages are included in your room rate.

Why we recommend Mango Bay Hotel

Mango Bay feels worlds away from the Caribbean’s big resorts – with just 76 rooms and suites, one excellent restaurant, and a peaceful beach-side setting. Well-behaved children are welcome, but there are no kids’ clubs or splash pools here: the emphasis is on seclusion and low-key luxury. That said, the all-inclusive package is very generous – encompassing all meals, afternoon tea, premium beverages, and watersports such as catamaran sailing, snorkeling and even introductory scuba lessons. But we wouldn’t blame you if you never ventured further than the swimming pool, surrounded by a fabulous tropical garden. With live music every evening and a cocktail list as long as your arm (the Mango Breeze is our favourite), Mango Bay proves that great things really do come in small packages.
