Days 1-2

Fly from the UK to Darwin.

Days 3-4


Explore laid-back Darwin, taking in the history at the Fannie Bay Gaol and discovering the wartime landmarks of Darwin Wharf Precinct, which was bombed by the Japanese in 1942. While you’re here, spend a day exploring the waterfalls, billabongs and Aboriginal culture of Kakadu National Park, with the option to take a 50-minute scenic flight. Keep your eyes peeled for saltwater crocodiles and a wide range of colourful birdlife too.

Days 5-7

Onboard The Ghan Expedition

Transfer to the station and jump onboard the Ghan Expedition train for your three-night journey to Adelaide. Sit back and watch the vast sands of the Red Centre pass by from the comfort of your Gold Service cabin and indulge in the fabulous gourmet meals served in the onboard Queen Adelaide Restaurant. Along the way, stop off at Katherine and savour the magnificent beauty of Nitmiluk Gorge, enjoy a full day of touring in Alice Springs – concluding with a dinner under the stars – and discover the unique and quirky appeal of the underground opal mining town of Coober Pedy

Day 8


Arrive in Adelaide and take a stroll down the laneways, home to numerous boutique stores and quirky cafes. Look out for the quartet of adorable bronze pigs on Rundle Mall, and perhaps visit the Art Gallery of South Australia, before enjoying dinner in one of the many avenues jam-packed with intimate restaurants.

Day 9

Kangaroo Island

Spend a day among the plants and rock formations of Kangaroo Island, where you might spot koalas, wallabies and penguins. This wildlife sanctuary stretches for 96 miles and is also home to sea lions, echidnas and the unique Kangaroo Island kangaroo. Make sure your camera is charged! You’ll also spend the night here, so you’ll get a chance to spot the nocturnal animals too.

Day 10


Wake up to the sounds of the wildlife, before another day of animal-spotting. Head to Flinders Chase with your island guide and learn all about the fur seals and native bird species. Indulge in the island’s delicious cuisine at lunch; the locally-sourced seafood is not to be missed. In the evening, you’ll head back to Adelaide, where you’ll spend the night.

Day 11

Onboard the Indian Pacific

Board the Indian Pacific train as it journeys across Australia from Perth to Sydney. You join the train in Adelaide; check into your luxury cabin and then sit back, relax and watch the far-reaching views of the Australian Outback from the Queen Adelaide Restaurant, where the chef will whip up delicious dishes using locally-sourced ingredients. Spend the rest of the evening in the Outback Explorer Lounge and share your adventures with fellow travellers.

Days 12-14


Explore the sights and sounds of Sydney. Perhaps climb the arch of the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge or take in a performance at the Sydney Opera House. Take a relaxing walk around the Botanic Gardens and look out for flying foxes in the trees, or visit the Australian National Maritime Museum and dine in one of the sunny waterfront cafés in Darling Harbour. The next day, set sail on a Sensational Sydney Cruise and experience the sights from the water.
