Staying in St Lucia

Secluded on the South West

Wherever you decide to stay in St Lucia, accommodation is typically catered towards luxury and romance, and rightly so. The island has long been a favourite for honeymooners who are looking for intimate privacy over super-style resorts. This is especially the case on the South West of the island, where many resorts, such as Sugar Beach - a Viceroy Resort, have set up to behold the best view of Petit Piton and Gros Piton.

Dramatically soaring and serenely covered in greenery, The Pitons are the most photographed landmark of St Lucia. The two peaks are in fact volcanic plugs linked by the Piton Mitan ridge, and can be climbed via hiking or mountain climbing. It is even possible to stay at the top of Piton Mitan Ridge at the Ladera Hotel which offers one of the most stunning views over Piton Bay.

A Northern Stay

The island’s other popular cluster of hotels is on the northern tip of the island near Reduit Beach and even further north. This is where you’ll find the Sandals Grande St Lucian Spa and Beach Resort and The BodyHoliday amongst others. Typically speaking, the beaches are regarded as more ideal in the north of the island as the sand is much more golden, compared to the south which has more silver sand.

Another advantage to staying in the north is that it busier (in a laidback Caribbean way of course) than the south, with markets, restaurants and attractions to keep you entertained.
