Staying in Grenada

The Island of Spice

It was in 1843 that a merchant ship on its way to England introduced a fortuitous and small quantity of nutmeg trees to the island. Since then Grenada has become synonymous with nutmeg, today supplying nearly 40% of the world’s annual crops, making them the largest exporters of nutmeg in the world. The island is also a significant producer of a range of other spices too, including cinnamon, cloves and ginger.

With such a prolific spice industry, dining in Grenada is bound to please. Cuisine here blends African, Asian and European traditions, and is best experienced at some of the island’s up-scale establishments such as The Beach House or Oliver’s Restaurant at Spice Island Beach Resort.

Chasing waterfalls

A holiday in Grendada is bound to take in the stunning coastline, but don’t let it be the only place you experience. Inland Granada is home to lush rainforests and a range of spectacular waterfalls, many of which you can swim at.

Some of the most popular cascades include the Royal Mount Carmel Waterfalls that fall from over 21 metres. Concord Falls is also a picturesque spot and comprises pools which are ideal for swimming.
