Flight Centre's Guide to Post-Brexit Travel

Travel after Brexit will undoubtedly be different when you're exploring Europe. Thankfully, our experts are constantly chatting to our colleagues in-destination all around the continent, and will ensure you have all the information you need before your next holiday. Here are some general key things to be aware of:

Passport validity

You must ensure that you have at least six months left on your passport and it will need to be less than 10 years old.

EHIC validity

All EHIC cards issued before the end of 2020 will be valid until their expiry date. The UK government has plans to release a new card after this – to be known as the UK Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) – but there are no further details about this at present. As such, we highly recommend that you have appropriate travel insurance and healthcare cover when travelling abroad.

Entry requirements

Check entry requirements for the country you are visiting, as border control may require you to provide information such as proof of a return or onward ticket or sufficient funds for travel. It is also always advisable to check whether a visa is needed.

Data roaming

Free EU roaming may come to an end, so check with your mobile provider to find out about any roaming charges and how you may be affected.
