Cruise Only Search ![]()
Some people prefer to only take a short break cruise and increasingly there are more 'mini cruise' options and you are no longer restricted to a seven night cruise, 14 night cruise or round the world cruise.
With the advent of the low cost carriers such as Easyjet or Ryanair the short break holiday has become popular with many people taking three or four short breaks a year as opposed to just one 14-night holiday. The cruise lines are now competing with the short break holiday companies offering a variety of options from two to five night durations.
With dedicated itineraries that offer great flexibility more and more people are taking advantage of the diversity of destinations, especially out of UK ports, and taking many cruises each year.
Regardless of the duration of your cruise you still experience the same high level of service and quality and in most cases an equivalent five star hotel would be a great deal more expensive than a cruise, and you get to see more!
The most popular short break cruise destinations include: The Northern Lights, Amsterdam, Jersey, around the UK and France. If you pick up your ship in ports like Barcelona or Venice then the Mediterranean also offers some great three or four day options.
For those new to cruise there are now plenty of two day "taster cruises" available that have been designed to introduce people to cruising. Research has shown that a very high proportion of short break "taster cruise" holidaymakers go on to experience the more typical 14 night cruise experience.
Short break cruising is usually available during the spring and autumn periods (early and late season), though destinations like Mediterranean have itineraries available all summer long. If you have opted for a land based holiday then try planning a couple of days of cruising and you could roll one holiday into two distinct types. If you're in Sydney for example then a two night trip to dive on the barrier reef or lay on Fijian beach might appeal. The main thing to remember is that all cruise lines offer many very flexible options.
At Flight Centre we specialise in organising a cruise experience that you'll always remember and one that you'll want to repeat at some point in the future.
