Staying in Barbados

Barbados the beautiful

One of the most popular and unique Caribbean islands, Barbados is where luxury accommodation melds with island living. For the most part, the island’s resorts are designed to be fully contained and often feature restaurants, spas and exclusive tours and facilities. While it’s perfectly possible that you’ll never want to venture beyond the resort’s private beaches, when an adventurous mood does strike, Barbados is an island that will reward. It’s that balance that makes Barbados an ideal holiday spot.

West Coast stay

When choosing your luxury accommodation, the west coast of Barbados is where you will find the most choice. It is here you’ll find boutique properties like Colony Club and The House Barbados, as well as the sprawling beachfront Fairmont Royal Pavilion. The reason why so many resorts have set up on the western side is because this is where you can experience the calmest of Caribbean seas, with lagoons sprawled along the west while surf conditions care typically witnessed along the south.

Along the west are a serious of beaches including Brandons, Batts Rock, Fitts Village, Sandy Lane and more. Many of the beaches near Bridgetown, like Brandons Beach, can get busy – especially when cruise ships are in town. Further north and the beaches become more and more deserted, especially near the boutique resorts.

Deserted island romance

Barbados has long been a favourite for honeymoons and romantic escapes. And to add to the romance even further, most luxury resorts on the island will also offer a range of romantic activities, from beach horse back riding to couples spa treatments. Some resorts are even adults-only, adding to the intimate experience.

If you are travelling with your loved one, consider a private boat, yacht or catamaran cruise around the island and to some of the best snorkelling spots in Barbados. Equally as romantic are the various resort dining options on the island such as personalised menus at Colony Club or a private sunset beach dinner at The House Barbados.
