British Airways Industrial Action Update

The court of appeal has backed the Unite cabin crew union against an injunction won by the British Airways on Monday to block strike action.

The court decided not to uphold the airline’s injunction against the union cabin crew strike ballot.

There has been no official notification that Unite will proceed with strike action however should strike action occur the first new walk-out could happen as soon as Monday.

Meanwhile Union bosses have called for the dispute to be settled by negotiation. British Airways have taken the decision to proceed with their contingency plans and as such will be loading a revised schedule for the period
24 May - 29 May 2010 with immediate effect. It may take several hours for all British Airways systems to update.

Planned Operations

British Airways will run a full programme at London Gatwick and London City.

At London Heathrow, British Airways will operate more than 60 per cent of their long haul operation and more than 50 per cent of short haul operations.

The airline plans to fly more than 70 per cent of the customers who were booked to fly with them in the period targeted.

Three sets of potential strike dates have been identified including 24- 29 May 2010, 30 May – 4 June 2010
and 5 – 9 June 2010.
