Curfew imposed in Bangkok

As a result of the continued unrest in Thailand a curfew has been imposed from 21:00 until 05:00, until 23 May 2010 in the city of Bangkok and in 23 provinces where a state of emergency is in place.

The Thai Government have said that travel to and from the airport is permitted in curfew hours provided passengers are able to show officers at checkpoints their passport and airline ticket. It is advised that if you need to travel to the airport, you do so outside the curfew times even if this means starting your journey earlier than planned.

The British Embassy in Bangkok is still temporarily closed to the public. The situation will be reviewed on a day-by-day basis. British nationals requiring urgent consular assistance should call 02 305 8333 (in Thailand).

The Foreign Office is currently advising against non-essential travel to Bangkok and Chang Mai as well as selected Thai provinces. This advice does not apply to passengers transiting Bangkok airport on their way to other international destinations.
