BA Strike Advice -last updated 18:00 on 15 December 2009

Following the announcement on Monday 14th December regarding the British Airways’ strike over Christmas and New Year, we are working with British Airways to identify and support Flight Centre customers who may be affected by the impending strike action.

BA are currently working through their schedules now to see what impact the proposed strike will have on their operations. We are waiting for more details and should have the affected flight schedule within 48 hours. Currently customers can:

1.- TAKE ACTION NOW: (For customers departing 22 December 2009 to 2 January 2009 and for 48 hours on either side of those dates). As no flights have been confirmed as cancelled yet BA will not authorise a refund but you can:

• rebook your BA ticket for travel anytime within the next 12 months (you can bring your travel date forward if you wish eg. someone travelling on 23DEC could now travel on 19DEC).

• and if you still want to travel on your original dates we can also assist you in purchasing an entirely new ticket now on another airline

2.-WAIT TO SEE IMPACT: Once BA announces its schedule changes (due within the next 48hrs) if your flight is cancelled because of industrial action, we will be able to:

• give you a full refund your original ticket or

• reroute their journey on another BA flight

• or rebook on to a different flight.

Flight Centre Press Release

Following the announcement yesterday (Monday 14th December) regarding the British Airways’ strike over Christmas and New Year, Flight Centre, the discount airfare specialist, is working with the airline to identify and support Flight Centre customers who may be affected by the impending strike action.

Chris Galanty, Group Managing Director, Flight Centre UK said, ‘We are working closely with British Airways and our ground operators to minimise the disruption this will cause to our customers. Customer care and satisfaction is paramount; we recognise this is the worst time of the year to be faced with proposed strikes and are doing everything we can to help our customers. We will keep customers informed as events unfold and advise them of the alternative options available.’

Flight Centre believes more than 2,000 of its customers could be affected by the proposed strikes and will contact those affected to manage cancellations, refund applications and/or re-bookings. The accommodation team is already working with suppliers to negotiate a reduction or waiver of any cancellation or amendment fees that could be incurred by customers should they need to change their travel arrangements.

Concerned customers are advised to contact the Flight Centre store where their booking was made or call 0844 800 8660. Individual store telephone numbers can be found on the Flight Centre website
